Whisper

Yik Yak shares similarities with many other social media applications. The two key elements that make up Yik Yak are anonymity and proximity. These two features are responsible for the success of the application so far but the founders of Yik Yak are not the only ones to capitalize on these features. The application Whisper has taken this idea of anonymity and based its platform around this concept. Similarly to Yik Yak, Whisper allows users to post messages anonymously and users can respond to these posts either publicly or through private messages. Both applications have the option of posting under a handle or username. One difference between the two social media channels is the ability to create a profile; Yik Yak allows users the ability to create a biography and add other social links when Whisper does not. The appearance of the post themselves are different between the two applications.
